A Few Thoughts on the Birth of Our Savior

With all the commercialism around us, our thoughts should be focused on the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ! I have heard and read so many thoughts that are soul-stirring to me. I hope they are to you.

The glory of the story is that he came at all. –song heard on the radio

And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. –Luke 1:19

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.* (*Hebrew spelling) –Isaiah 7:14

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel,* which being interpreted is, God with us. (*Greek spelling) –Matthew 1:23

God made His home with us so that we might make our home with Him. –Our Daily Bread

The birth of Christ brought God to man; the cross of Christ brings man to God. –Our Daily Bread

I and my Father are one. –John 10:30

And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. –John 10:16

Can you imagine what it was like in heaven when God separated part of Himself and sent His Son to earth, can you imagine the depth of love God, I AM, had for His creation, humankind? It is beyond my total comprehension.

May you know the peace of Christmas every day of the year. –Our Daily Bread

Joy to the world, the Lord is come!

Keep your eyes on God

Keep your eyes on God; He never takes His eyes off you.

–Our Daily Bread 7/23/11

Beneath His watchful eye

His saints securely dwell;

That hand which bears all nature up

Shall guard His children well.

The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.

From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.

He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.

There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.

An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.

Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.

For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

Psalm 33:13-22

Sufferings of this life

“If we have Him, how much else do we really need?”
–Joni Eareckson Tada, pg. 200, “A Place of Healing”

Just think, whatever our current or future physical condition is or will be, we don’t have to live like this forever!

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
Romans 18:8

Following Christ

Following Christ has two requirements:
Believing, and acting like you do.
–Our Daily Bread, May 15, 2011

“The man who has God for his treasure has all things in One. Many ordinary treasures may be denied him, or if he is allowed to have them, the enjoyment of them will be so tempered that they will never be necessary to his happiness. Or if he must see them go, one after one, he will scarcely feel a sense of loss, for having the Source of all things he has in One all satisfaction, all pleasure, all delight. Whatever he may lose, he has actually lost nothing, for he now has it all in One, and he has it purely, legitimately and forever.”

A Three Fold Chord

A three fold chord is not quickly broken.
My God shall supply all of you needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus.
Is anything too hard for the Lord?
The Lord knows what you have need of before you ask.
All things work together for good … according to His purpose.

When I am afraid, I will trust in God.
