THE WEAVER

My life is but a weaving
Between My Lord and me;
I cannot choose the colors
He worketh steadily.

Ofttimes He weaveth sorrow
And I in foolish pride,
Forget that He seeth the upper,
And I the under side.

Not till the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly,
Shall God unroll the canvas
And explain the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful
In the Weaver’s skillful hand,
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned.

WHAT CAN HE DO WITH YOU?

If God can make of an ugly seed,
With a bit of earth and air
And dew and rain, sunshine and shade,
A flower so wondrous fair,
What can He make of a soul like you,
With the Bible and faith and prayer
And the Holy Spirit, if you do His will
And trust His love and care?

TRY GOD

when troubles are deep and your world is dark,
don’t give up hope,
"TRY GOD"…

when life turns sour and you’ve lost your way,
don’t give up hope,
"TRY GOD…

when fears stack up and you’re sure no one cares,
don’t give up hope,
‘TRY GOD’…

when temptation comes knocking
and you struggle with it so,
don’t give up hope,

"TRY GOD"…

The Cornerstone of a Christian’s Comfort

Alone with His own in the upper room, Jesus tells His disciples:

Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
John 14: 1-3

1. Our comfort depends upon our faith in Christ.
2. Our comfort is determined by our future with Christ.
3. Our comfort delivers us from fears because of Christ.

Excellent sermon from Pastor Jim Schettler of First Baptist Church of Santa Maria, CA.

Quote from book “Exploring Hebrews”

So many times, sentences from a book can jump out at you.

"In the meantime, they must imitate the example of others, who, faced with all kinds of opposition and difficulty, nevertheless, by faith and patience entered into the good of all that God had for them."

"God’s promises have a trust element in them which is to be grasped by faith and a time element in them which is to be grasped by patience."

Exploring Hebrews by John Phillips (Moody Press, Chicago 1977)

Covetousness

The sermon this morning was so good. The definition of covetousness from the sermon hits the target.

Covetousness is dissatisfaction with what God has given us in life.

We are saying to God that we don’t want what God has given us, we want more. We are saying, "I want what I want, not what God wants."

Covetousness is sin. We need to seek God’s forgiveness if this is in our lives and always be vigilant to keep it absent.

Psalm 13:5-6

But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the Lord, because He hath dealt bountifully with me.

Quotes from G. D. Watson

In a missionary letter I received there were some quotes I want to share with you.
They apply to daily living for Jesus.

From the book, “Our Own God” by G. D. Watson:

“If we take time to think quietly over the daily dealings of God with us, and lovingly watch for every little symptom of God’s presence in us and around us, we will soon be astonished at the degree we will discover of His presence, and at the perfection with which He weaves things together for our good.”

Also from the same book and author:

“Let us watch for God in His daily dealings with us. The more thoughtfully we watch the more we will see of Him. And the more we see, the more we will love Him.”
